DirectNIC registrar must Die!
You will absolutely not believe what happened to us today. Listen up all you webmasters and site owners. Don't ever use DirectNIC. Here is what they did to us when we requested a switch to another registrar for all of our very busy domain names: Baraban.Com , Baraban.Net , Baraban.Org and RussianTimes.com They simply changed their nameservers for our domains to point to their error page instead of our webpage right before they released the domain.
So all day today and until the new registrar receives the domain info and it propagates, all our sites are down. We are loosing many clients and all our users due to this and there is nothing anyone can do about this, except to sit and wait. Don't ever fall victim to these incompetent operators, transfer away from them before you build up your traffic to the point where it would hurt to be down for a day. We may loose our entire business due to them and are planning to go after them for damages. If you too fell victim to DirectNIC's illegal or punitive actions due to a switch to their competitor, please contact me to join our lawsuit agains them.
BTW, here is the lame excuse they gave us: "My apologies; it so happens that while your domains were in the transfer process we had a technical problem where one of our hosting servers deactivated the DirectDNS on some domains and was reactivated manually soon thereafter. We apologize as this was made aware to me upon further investigation of this matter."
