HiVelocity has been hosting my company's Linux server for a couple of years now. The switch was forced by our previous hosting company's, CalPop, rapid decline. Changes in ownership were followed by never-ending power and service outages, degrading level of customer service, long wait times, power surcharges and then rate increases.

When we came to HiVelocity, they gave us rates for dedicated hosting that were comparable to those CalPop was charging us for co-location. They helped to set up our new server very differently from their standard setup at no extra charge and assisted with file transfer from our old machine. It was smooth sailing ever since, with only perhaps a half dozen service interruptions.

During the last of the service glitches, I went to their website to contact customer service and noticed that they posted new dedicated hosting specials with lower rates. When I was on the line with a tech support guy, I also asked him if we could get the new deal on our current hosting. A few days later he told me that billing lowered our rates by a whopping 33% - that's a third!

So, now we are paying less for better service on dedicated hosting then we are did for co-location with CalPop. Eat your heart out, Lynn!
