Giant Yellow Crocuses

With all that snow on the ground yesterday morning, my thoughts temporarily shifted away from early Spring gardening. By tonight all of that snow had melted, but not before I snapped this picture of a giant yellow crocus peaking through it in my backyard.

With the snow out of the way and the ground workable, I rushed out to dig some holes in preparation for the bushes my brother-in-law hates, my sister likes and I don't mind. Weatherman willing, I'll be helping to dig them up, come Saturday.

This year, I got started gardening early - in late February and by the middle of March, I had already planted out the seven blueberry bushes and the three locust trees that were overtaking the unheated greenhouse. And I moved one of the small cottonwood shoots, coming up claustrophobicly in the backyard, out to front.

I really hope that everything takes, because these locust trees, I started them from seed and the blueberries... well, let's just say that this is not my first attempt at getting them to grow around here. This time, I even amended the soil (many months in advance) with sulfur to make it more acidic.

Next, I have to start some vegetable seedlings, rototill the garden and begin planting bulbs. Where will I find the time? Wish me luck, please!

I often read your blog and always find it very interesting. Thought it was about time i let you know… Keep up the great work
