I bet most people will agree that a good investment is one that has very little downside risk and a good potential for going up in value. While history is no predictor of the future and things can and do change over time, a company that consistently makes money, grows at a steady pace and has an excellent management, would certainly be a potential "good investment." However, every company's stock may go up and down over the short term.
