Oh what joy! My sister, teacher during the school year, for many years now spends her summers working at the camp. This past Friday, she decided to have my girlfriend and I for a visit. We came to spend Shabbat at the camp. I was a camper here only a short 26 years ago. The camp brought back memories of a carefree summer, the best, most relaxing time I ever spent in this country... Shabbat, on the other hand, left something to be desired. No, it wasn't the food, the food was plenty and reasonably good, especially if you like slightly undercooked kosher bar-b-q chicken - I, personally, prefer them well done. No, what was really missing, was the true Shabbat spirit... Seeing the kids have a great time dancing, singing, improvising was a blast, though. And my sister took good care of us, showed us around. Her husband was busy nursing the kids - he is a substitute nurse at the camp this year. Overall, a good visit.
