I am sitting here and counting in my mind all the people that I know, who have been persecuted by this country''s legal machine more severely because they were "Russian"

Alex Koltovskoy, who lost his shirt in the aftermath of 9/11, applied for government relief, received some and then was put to rot in jail apparently for making a mistake on that application.

Leon Kogan, a QA engineer and a party promoter, who was accused of kidnapping another Russian party promoter and whose bail was raised to $1M after he paid his original bail amount, apparently because the DA convinced the Grand Jury that Leo had ties to Russian Mafia! Yeah, right - certainly not the same Leo I knew. Well, Leo jumped bail and disappeared. For all I know he is QAing in some warmer climates now...

Alexander Naroditzky, who was falsely accused of molesting a 12 year old girl 10+ years ago, when he was already rather sick and almost 70 and who was forced to accept a ridiculous plea bargain just so that the courts would finally leave him alone. "After I accepted it, I felt terrible," said the Honorable Judge Morris B. Hoffman after accepting the plea bargain, obviously exercising rule over all reason. Nice going, brother!

My best friend in Minnesota who had a case opened against him rather recently, whose case will be in courts for a long time still, I am sure and whose name I will for this reason withhold in this public forum. In any case, he was just accused of child abuse by his bipolar teenage daughter. Based only on this accusation he now has a criminal record that he will have to appeal, even if the case never goes to trial! Is this ridiculous, or what?!

P.S. BTW, 3 out of these 4 people I originally met in 1980. I can''t believe that every one of these people became a criminal.
